As far as puppies go, we love them! It's always a dose of fun and patience as we try to coach them the ways of being a good puppy. It helps that Kayla is very food orientated! :D And she learns quickly that people going up the stairs will eventually come down. Looking forward to having her come back again!

Yarah & Shadow
My 2 favourite gals - as different as night and day! Yarah is so laid back it's hard to get her going. Food usually works with these 2.
After all the splashing, Shadow cleverly seeks out the shade to watch the world go by.
Shadow loves the outdoors. Being wet and in the sun makes her day complete.
No pool of water is too small for her! |

Max (Transit)
Max will soon learn what swadee is all about as he prepares for his big move!
Well not too much changes - the heat will be pretty much the same. We're going to miss his curly mop of hair!

Mane
From the Land of the Rising Sun, this Shiba Inu gal is a bundle of quirky energy! She's fast and spunky: always good at starting a game with the other dogs.
One of the best smiles :) |
Thankfully enjoying the Singapore sun was a smooth transition for her. The post shedding? Well, that was enough to make 2 more Manes! Haha.

Tick Fever
Tick Fever is appearing to be common and ticks are found everywhere in Singapore. Their saliva carries three
types of blood parasites namely Babesia canis, Babesia gibsoni (both
protozoans), and Ehrlichia canis, a rickettsia. These parasites will affect
your dog and can be fatal if not treated. Often the first sign noticed is that
the dog feels tired and starts to go off food. As the disease develops, the dog
may become progressively weaker, may show blood tinged urine, bleeding from the
mucous membranes, and have episodes of fever, vomiting, and diarrhoea. The disease can
have a very gradual onset and progression, with your dog just looking “off
colour” until the later stages when walking may not be possible.
Treatment of Tick Fever is a combination of supportive measures and medication to kill the blood parasites, but the treatment is not guaranteed to work and dogs may die due to the disease.
Read more about Tick Borne diseases here: http://www.cvbd.org/en/tick-borne-diseases/
Tick prevention is vital in all dogs, wherever you live. Applications of Frontline and/or Amitraz tick collars are essential, but nothing is 100% effective. Monthly spot on treatments are sufficient in the off peak (cooler) months, but fortnightly applications may be required in the summer if you live and walk your dogs in areas of grass or other foliage where immature ticks live.
Note: Revolution is NOT effective against ticks
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our dog tested positive for tick fever recently but she is showing no signs of going "off colour". We will be carrying out tests on our other dogs over time. Please know that we do take in dogs that have been treated for tick fever. They are healthy and normal just like any other dog. If you have concerns regarding future boardings, do let us know.

Before the Haze
As we have been engulfed in the haze for about a week, we are SO glad we took the dogs out before we had to be indoors for much of this week! Cabin fever has been abated for now...
While we dream of blue skies and clear air, we will be waiting for the next chance to let the dogs have a good time out!

Henry
Well Henry is now in USA after spending some time at MIBO. Catching the last few weeks of Asian sunshine, the boy is one happy chap!
He doesn't fancy the thunderstorms (neah, we neither). And he just loves to know that there is someone around the corner. He would let a howl rip, just to make sure you are there!
The house is quieter now, but we strangely miss his cheerful antics.
