But we also have dogs that are not sterilised and we extend our services to these dogs with the following knowledge:
(applies to reservations made after 1 April 2010)
- Unsterilised dogs destabilise the pack environment and are at a greater risk for injury by other dogs and to themselves as a result.
- Un-neutered male dogs are prone to marking their territory (like the sofa, table legs, etc) and their urine has a highly unpleasant pungent odor. Their constant presence provokes challenges for 'top dog' status.
- Un-spayed females can come into heat (even with "predictable" cycles) and their period brings unwanted attention/harassment from the males (even the neutered ones!) and dominance challenges from others.
At MIBO we fully agree with the following excerpt from Ceasar Milan - Spay & Neuter Myths. Please take some time to have a look at it.
If you are considering having your unsterilised dog stay with us, we would like to know the reasons why you have chosen not to sterilise him/her. Please note that we do not accept the following reasons:
- for future litters (puppies)/as a stud or mate
- that the dog will put on weight after sterilisation
- that the dog will be less of a canine/change in temperament
- you plan to have him sterilised soon. (Your dog will be welcome to stay once he/she has been sterilised.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If your female is in heat/comes into heat during her stay, an additional charge of $15/day will apply from the start of boarding.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We give priority to dogs that are sterilised and there are limited places available to non-sterilised dogs. MIBO PDC reserves the right to accept or decline each dog on a case by case basis and the decision will be final.
We know that you'll understand that we strive to cater to all dogs and that these dogs need extra vigilance and require additional cleanup. This results in more man hours involved during their stay to keep everyone comfortable and environment pleasant.
