Off with Scrooge for MilkBone Pet DayCare (MIBO) is Here!

Picture this - You have a pooch. You love him to bits. But you gotta head for work each day to bring in the dough. No one's at home most of the time. Your parents are getting older and you don't wish them to trouble themselves with the dog, bending over to pick up poop and bringing him for long walks. And of course, you don't have the luxury of a domestic maid.

What?! No more walks???

Or what about this? Your whole family's going for that long awaited vacation you've dreamed about for ages. Unfortunately, your canine best friend can't come along. The logistics for bringing him on a holiday is too great. You need somebody whom you can trust to shower your dog with attention the way that you do, to provide your dog with long walks and delicious meals so that your furkid too, will feel like he is on a wonderful getaway.

They're leaving me behind...

Is there no one you can turn to? Can't you own a dog and go to work at the same time? Can't you own a dog and go on a short holiday too?

A sad dog makes for a sad master.

Don't worry because MIBO's here to save the day!

MIBO, otherwise known as Milkbone Pet DayCare, provides services such as dog boarding (or cat boarding), pet sitting, pet and house sitting as well as pet daycare. Boarding services are a dime a dozen in our burgeoning pet industry. This makes it difficult to distinguish the good ones from the bad. After all, you won't be around to ensure that your dog is not ill-treated. You need to be able to know for sure that your dog will be safe and happy while you are not by his side. It is extremely important that you get a good boarding service.

A good boarding service puts a smile on your furkid's face!

Browsing through their website and liaising with Sera, the very lady behind MIBO, has left us with the instinctive feeling that MIBO is a company you can trust with your very best friend. Don't trust us? Just go check out their website at http://themilkbone.blogspot.com/ and see for your very own eyes the very happy pets that have at their place. These dogs don't even look like they are away from home! I guess the success behind MIBO is their ability to do exactly that - to make our furkid feel at home, where they belong.

See how the smile lights up her eyes?

MIBO seems to be doing pretty well because as I read, their slots for this Christmas season have been filled. There's no better testament to their great service than that. If you're interested in boarding your pet over the Chinese New Year holiday next year, do go check out their website for more details. Don't wait too long because slots go fast!

This Christmas, MIBO is doing its part to help the furkiddies at Gentle Paws lead a better life. For every Christmas greeting you make on its Facebook page, MIBO will be contributing $5 to us! We would like to take this opportunity to shout out a great big thank you to MIBO for this generous gesture. Christmas is a season of giving, laughing and sharing. Here at Gentle Paws, we are really feeling the Christmas spirit!

So guys, what are you waiting for???

Head over to http://www.facebook.com/pages/MilkBone-Pet-DayCare/75544515408 to help make this Christmas a better Christmas for the dogs at Gentle Paws. It's that easy. A few click-clicks on the keyboard and hey presto, you would have helped contribute $5 to Gentle Paws indirectly. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your time!

It's a little early but since we're feeling the Christmas glow, here's Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, from Gentle Paws and Friends!

Jewel

This is the face of my star boarder :D We still remember the first few times that she came: always wary, not so interactive with the other dogs here. Which was quite a shame as her mommy would tell us that she was the neighbourhood tyrant back home! Haha. But she blossoms a little more each time and now when she comes, we no longer see her "old" self.

In place is a very confident dog, and yet very sweet! She loves playing with the other smaller dogs and her tail  wags up-down and sometimes in a circle too :D She's our little Jules and we love having her here!

Angel

No more fear of the camera! For some dogs that come to stay, getting them to eat, get along with the other dogs and not be too sulky are our main concerns. Not with Angel! She's come to stay on and off for a while now and you'll rarely get to see her picture here cuz she usually looks like this when you bring out the camera.

This is more like it - Angel is (as always) a happy-hyper-hoppity little bundle of a beagle!

Nana

You know how some dogs are just Princesses by nature? Nana is one of them. She's not interested in what the other commoners have to say - she just does her own thing. She's a princess cuz she will still come to us for some love and attention. That makes us... King, you think? Haha!

Gracie & Beatrice

It's been some time since we saw these beauties! Never too soon for a catch up :)

Gracie has always been the leader - Beatrice will let her explore the unknown first. Which means that Gracie will always be getting the treats first. Maybe this is what brought about this face? >>>

Sigh - I think there is some favouritism going on!

Mocha

What a change in Mocha! The first time he came, we could not get him off the sofa and sulking. That's quite normal for most first timers and we usually let them take their time, hoping that they will come out of their shell during their stay.

Look at him now - standing tall and proud! That's exactly how we feel when we see him do a complete 180-turnaround :)

He gamely plays with the other dogs and even looks at you to play - how wonderful is that! Oh and he found his voice this time too :D

Do you like my back-side?

Or my handsome front side?

Bobby Heng

Meet the big smile that belongs to Bobby Heng :D This oldie goodie that has a story behind him that led him to us - we are so lucky to have him!.

He's just one chilled dog - nothing really gets to him. But it wasn't always like that in the beginning. He would whine and wait to go home. He would cry - scream almost. We weren't sure we did the right thing!

But like all things that turn out good in the end, it all takes time. We gave him space and patience. He adjusted to his new routine and new friends (suddenly there are so many! :D )

And slowly, he found that it's not such a scary place after all... and with the blink of an eye, he can pretty much get us to do anything for him! :P And we found him to be one of the best dogs (we love oldies!) that is a little stand-offish in the start, but once he knows you, he'll give you nuzzling nudges with his nose. You'd have to be THAT lucky.

I know we are :D We think it's the start of a great friendship.

Skeet

You know the saying: "Small body... big... VOICE??" :D That will be describing Skeet very accurately. He's all a bundle of over-the-to energy; he even makes us feel tired watching him!

His volume really escalates when you leave the room. C'mon... now who would even like that?! :P But if you quietly shut the door he just thinks that you are not there and will be quiet. For a while.

Love

We love the oldies :) And Love is no exception - she does remind us of Cherub and Miss Poot. They share similar backgrounds, all being rescue dogs. Love wanders around minding her own business most of the time... then she will feel "lost" and pause to holler for help. For an elderly senior, she sure has one very loud voice - all of them do, in fact :P How else will they get your attention when they are otherwise so good all the time? :)

Abi, Eve & Molly

If joy ever came in a dog - it would be in Eve for sure. She is happiness rolled into one tiny Westie! Eve is part of a trio that includes Abi and Molly.

Abi is the Love-Bug. Molly is the shy one (that's her at the back). Abi was a great sister to "protect" Molly from her new environment that includes a ceiling fan. Yes Abi thinks the ceiling fan goes on and off just to annoy her! :P

But they are also no strangers to a little pampering - see them here in the sofa! It's a big 3 seater, but no one else dares to come up. Not when these 2 princesses are on!

Eve, oh Eve. What else can I say? How do you feel anything but Happy when you are around Eve? :D

Aspen

Aspen (and the fridge - haha) is one happy, if very excitable, husky. He doesn't mean any harm, but sometimes he sees new friends and wants to say HELLO! At 110% :D

But I think that is what makes him lovable. There isn't a mean bone in this boy. Oh yes he talks like any other husky, that's when he's so happy that he just can't contain it! :D Just check out that big grin!

Lily

Shy, quiet and yet friendly enough - can you say that Lily is a gem? She's an oldie-goodie, which makes her even more special. Mambo tries to touch (paw) her long coat from the neighboring side and Lily will turn to give him the "side-glance" and ever the slightest growl. Then he s-l-o-w-l-y pulls back his paw.

Ah yes, there is a Princess in there after all!

Claire

Are you laughing? I know I am! This is Claire - THE cutest pug ever! :D

She's one crazy happy happy happy dog when we go to say hello and bring her for walkies, feed her and give her treats before we leave.

We let her have her burst of freedom when we walk her in the compound - she goes full speed ahead and tears up her path!

"Why are you making me wait?"

Alex

This young one is Alex and when he first came, no one dared to go near his box. What a spitfire! Thankfully for Mambo and Baron (the resident boys), they didn't give up and kept going over to say hello. Or steal Alex's food... Haha.

But the best thing about kittens is that their curiosity and eagerness to explore far outweighs any grumpy mood. And Alex is no different. By the end of the 2nd day he was ready to mingle with the others.

"HUH?? You talking to meeee?"

Our Christmas Pledge

With 25days to the New Year and counting, here's our pledge for the season:

For every person making a holiday greeting on our FaceBook FanPage wall, MIBO will donate $5 to Gentle Paws & Friends (on top of our monthly contribution as our adopted charity). So come on and show us your holiday spirit and the dogs will feel it too!

So far (this is the first day!), I have been very touched by the great response! Keep your greeting and well-wishes coming :D Remember: For every person's wishes, we will donate $5 to Gentle Paws to keep their little paw-stockings filled this holiday!

And to up the challenge ante (why not), we are looking for great individuals who are willing to pledge a percentage of the final amount to Gentle Paws. We are game for any figure: from 1% to 10% (or more!). So 1% of $500 will be $5 only! So what say you? The dogs will really love you for it - and you'll know you gave the more meaningful gift this holiday!

Send us an email or Facebook message with your pledge percentage and we'll hook you up at the end of 2010!

Bart, Penny, Arthur & Lance

What an extraordinary bunch of felines! You open the door and they are all out to greet you... This was for a pet sitting assignment that was for a while - so I really got the chance to know these guys thoroughly!

Meet Bart and...

... sister, Penny! They have such an exciting story and they are only young cats! Both are friendly and speak very politely. Bart is the daily bag inspector and Penny... well, she's pretty to look at :D

This is Arthur. And I must admit, this boy has captivated me :) He's a very special boy in my eyes and I love looking forward to him when I go by everyday. A real sweet-talker, that is what Arthur is... he comes up to you, looks you straight in the eye and "Maooooo"

He'll always be where you are... when you're getting ready the food, scooping the litter box (all 4!), vacuuming (ok he stays away - but he's watching you!) and when you get out the brush he's gonna come and sit right by you to wait his turn :) Can't help holding and hugging this old man!

And this is Lance... and if he looks like he doesn't do much, well, you're right :P He's just happy on top of his box. When it's food time, he'll be there, like the quiet gentleman that he is.

If you think you can initiate more contact with Lance, you'll get The Paw... it's a gentleman's paw too. But I think i know to give him his space... he's earned it :D

What did i say - doesn't that look like the greatest group of cats?
